Minimal simplicity

Okay lets be real. Sometimes we scope out the cutest dress, and somehow this “dress” looks as though it’s too short to be worn by itself. Who wants to walk around in something that they’re uncomfortable in because it makes them feel too revealing.IMG_5527

Honestly, the depth of how much you want to reveal your skin with outfits you choose is wholly up to the individual. For me, personally, I am just a tad bit more conservative when it comes to dressing myself. When I saw this navy tube top dress at a store called 8seconds in South Korea, I immediately fell in love. Picked my size and tried it on, but the length actually wasn’t that short! 🙂 Hooray. So I decided there’s two main ways to pull this piece together.

On an evening dinner, this adorable peplum minidress can simply be worn by itself. On different occasions like heading to the office, lecture or attending church, you can pull together a semi formal look by adding some layers. Layering this cocktail dress over an off-the-shoulder or long/short/three-fourths sleeve knit tee can cover you up, yet it will grasp your figure. Then, adding a pair of skinny/flare/boot-cut jeans or even cargo pants underneath can make the outfit look more chic rather than sexy. Before I get carried away, let’s not forget the perfect shoes to style it with. Evening wear= a form of heels or statement sandals & Semi-formal= classic ballet flats or form fitting sneakers like a pair of Adidas Stan Smiths or classic New Balance.IMG_5531

To be honest…as a college student, I actually enjoy dressing up for my classes. It’s strange how the outfit I choose portrays my overall mood and outlook onto my day ahead. Yes rushing to get to morning classes and desiring to feel comfy is a hurdle for most, but hey, when you feel good on the outside it can have some positive affect on you due to your confidence radiating!!IMG_5532

As summer is drawing near to embrace you goodbye and fall is peaking it’s brisk smile at you…you are trying to ignore the thought of “back to school” –but not the idea of “back to school shopping”– I hope you are all really excited to outshine yourself for this new semester.
