It’s true. Wide/boot legged pants are making their comeback. My mother, being one of my biggest fashion role models, has always told me that culottes or what I like to term them, “trumpet pants”, were in style when she was in college. She has always tried dressing me in wide-cut jeans or different colored culottes when I was younger and I’ll be honest, I absolutely hated it because I only admired skinny jeans! Then suddenly I started to really appreciate the cut of the pants and its elegance. Also, might I remind you that culottes has two fine advantages: looks like a midi skirt(still pants) and mighty comfortable :).
Since the style of wide/boot legged pants are tight at the thighs and start to widen surpassing the ankles, pairing the outfit off with a form fitting top will settle for a glamorous finish. One of the first concerns people have about wearing flared pants is their body figures getting lost in them, but a top that grasps your body shape, while letting your bottoms flare towards the end, can still sustain the outline of your body figure. It doesn’t matter what shape or size you are. Like I always remind myself, confidence starts with me. As long as I am confident in who I am or what I wear, others will appreciate that. You can feel great rocking a pair of wide/boot legged pants/jeans that will make you feel like you are about to head to a disco party radiating boldness.
Go out there and own the title of “street fashion”.
Please share your favorite styling of culottes with me as well!
Cheers,
Inha

MY RANT: After a month and a half of storming the crowded streets of Seoul, starting small talk and eating delicious street food (Korea is abundant in food carts), there was a sense of withdrawal when I returned from this adventurous vacation where fashion was almost everything there. Literally, Namdaemoon to Dongdaemoon shops were opened from dawn to dusk. It felt strange to see such vast land space, no one walking on the sidewalks or neighborhood streets and to realize that Black Friday is the only time to shop past midnight. Although I was being a bit nostalgic all too soon, I took an advantage of the vastness beauty of the States. What better way to own the streets by taking it on as a photoshoot background. No need to be in a crowded street to get styled up!
